Odds to Win the John Deere Classic

A general view of the 18th hole during the fourth and final round of the John Deere Classic held at TPC Deere Run on July 16, 2017 in Silvis, Illinois.

With the Open Championship set for July 19-22, the last stop on the PGA Tour before the third major of the year takes place this weekend when the John Deere Classic takes center stage at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

Six of the top 25 players in the FedExCup Standings will tee it up in Illinois.

At Bovada, Francesco Molinari is the +1000 favorite, with Bryson DeChambeau (+1100), Zach Johnson (+1200), Joaquin Niemann (+1800), Ryan Moore (+1800), Steve Stricker (+2200), Chesson Hadley (+2200), Kyle Stanley (+2500), Austin Cook (+3300) and Wesley Bryan (+3300) shaping up the top 10.

In total, six of the top 25 players in the FedExCup standings will be in attendance in the Prairie State. DeChambeau claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the tournament a year ago, so it’s no surprise to see him as the favorite in the relatively weak field. DeChambeau, who’s sixth in the FedExCup standings, could leapfrog Dustin Johnson for the points lead if he can repeat as champion. The American has been lights-out this season, collecting five top-five finishes and two more top-10s en route to consistently becoming a fixture near the top of odds lists.

Open Championship berth on the line at Deere Run

The final berth in the Open Championship at Carnoustie will be rewarded to the highest top-five finisher who hasn’t already punched his ticket to Scotland, so there will be plenty on the line at the 2018 edition of the John Deere Classic. A total of 14 entrants at this weekend’s event are already in the lineup for the renowned major, including DeChambeau and Johnson.

The course, a 7,268-yard par 71, underwent a massive redesign in 1999 and has been a staple on the tour ever since. Deere Run is relatively easy by PGA Tour standards, so expect to see a litany of birdies. Paul Goydos’ 59 in the first round of the 2010 tournament remains the 18-hole record, while Steve Stricker’s 258 at the same event is the 72-hole record.
