Odds to Win NBA Finals MVP Award: Curry Eclipses Durant as the Favorite

Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors attempts a layup over Kevin Love #0 of the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of the 2018 NBA Finals at ORACLE Arena on June 3, 2018 in Oakland, California.

After two games of the 2018 NBA Finals, the choice for Finals MVP has become abundantly clear in the eyes of oddsmakers.

Stephen Curry is the -300 NBA Finals MVP favorite.

At BetOnline, Stephen Curry is the odds-on -300 favorite, with Kevin Durant (+275), LeBron James (+375), Klay Thompson (+2500) and Draymond Green (+4000) available in plus-money.

Considering the underwhelming performances from any of the Cleveland Cavaliers not named LeBron, it’s far from a surprise to see King James as the only Cavalier listed to wager on. James averaged 40 points in the first two games of the series, including his epic 51-point effort in the series opener. The Cavs have been tabbed as +4.5 home underdogs for Game 3 on Wednesday and have a price of +1350 to come back and win the series.

Does anyone besides Curry have a chance?

Prior to the series, Durant was -150 chalk to garner the hardware, with Curry coming in at +175 odds. Curry drained an NBA Finals-record nine three-pointers in Game 2 and is averaging 31 points in the series. Considering Andre Iguodala won the title in 2015 and Durant claimed the honor a year ago, the timing feels right for Curry to win his first.
